Why does dancing have such a prominent place in human society and culture?
This is political because it is about something prominent in human society and culture.
There must be something to this because dancing exists in every culture. It is generally considered that to be 'cool' you almost have to be good at dancing, and if you try to dance but are bad then you are the most embarrassing kind of spasticated retard. Who gives a shit? What is so important about dancing?
The default answer would be that it is some display of skill and coordination, but there are a million things you can do to display skill and coordination, and none of them have such a prominent place as a social marker the way dancing does. Take playing music for example, without which dancing wouldn't even be able to exist. Music obviously has an important role in society too, and highly skilled musicians are generally respected, yet no one judges someone as being lame and uncool if they can't play an instrument. It's just something that some people can do and some people never learned, or don't take to very naturally. It isn't seen as embarrassing if you can't play music, and playing badly is only so if it is done out of place like a public performance. Besides, picture in your mind someone perceived as good at dancing, vs a cello virtuoso, and tell me who is more likely to get laid? Therefore, it is NOT about skill and coordination.
The craziest thing about it to me is dancing is totally fucking gay and retarded. I have never ever seen anyone dance and felt anything positive. It looks dumb, it is dumb. The 'better' the dance the more retarded it is, because it must have taken so long to learn and hence is an even bigger waste of time.
So what gives? Why are peons so obsessed with this activity?
