What sucks about this is I have a deep seated distrust of women and I realize I am turning into the male version of her. Cycle of abuse and all that. It helped because none of us need to be on the receiving end of her gaslighting attempts to dodge accountability over her past behaviors. She has never apologized once, she only tries to manipulate for sympathy. My single mom was like this. It’s even worse now that I’m an adult and she’s old. The way I see it, it’s natural for a woman to look to her eldest adult son for support if he’s the man of the household. That’s probably how it would be if the dad died at war or in the fields or something, like happened forever. I think the trick is learning how to navigate it as a young man because they won’t help you. I think it's because most of these women are single mothers. Men still provide specific benefits for women like financial and emotional security and because these women don't have husbands, the expect their sons to take on this role.
