Every area can be randomly hit. Those areas are not more likely to be hit. You are more likely to SURVIVE when being hit in those areas. Hence planes hit in those areas returned to base. Then the guy said lets add armor to those areas like a dumbass. And then planes kept dying. Because those are not critical areas.
The reason they never saw bullet holes in those critical areas was because the plane fucking exploded before going to base. So you need to add armor to the critical area not marked on that drawing.
