Every industry is broken. I liked to work on cars as a hobby when I was a kid and got pretty good at it, so in my twenties I tried being a mechanic. I'm in the richest area in america,shops hire you at roughly 15 an hour and promise you once they see you're useful they'll move you up in rank and pay. I found that I was actually more competent than almost everyone else my age, worked harder, showed up early, stayed late for years. The raises never came, the promotions never came. They would give you a goal to hit and when you hit it they would change the goalposts. Meanwhile the drunk idiot showing up late breaking customer cars on a regular basis got moved up for being friends with the shop manager. There was a point where I was working 50 hours a week and the most I ever made on a paycheck was like 1700 after tax. A 1 bedroom in my area is 2000 a month. I said fuck it, it isn't worth it. That work gives you cancer, it isn't worth it. If that work paid well enough for me to have a wife and kids and home like my father who answered emails his whole life, I wouldn't ever complain and I'd be wrenching right now. The reason we can't afford to live is because of immigrants, there's nothing else to discuss. UIntil they are rounded up and removed nothing changes.
