So much this. If you can’t afford a measly 2% wealth tax when your assets are greater than 10 million, then maybe you should try living within your means?

Maybe instead the government should live within their means (stop spending money they don't have).

The issue is that every election a new tax is issued. So it’s not about 2%, but the accumulation of all these new taxes. Furthermore, a “wealth tax” is a new concept that I don’t think exists anywhere in the US. So opening that door is a huge issue.

You fucking idiots have no idea what you are asking for. People of means don't just have a bunch of liquidity. It's all invested in different things, usually things that employ people because those things increase in value. You are actively trying to cost people their jobs.

The "huge issue" is that the "wealth tax" door has been shut for over 50 years. Our progressive tax structure has gradually rescinded into a flax tax, and even regressive tax structure where wealthier citizens have access to more tax benefits than people with more modest incomes.

It is comforting to see serious scrutiny when an idea like this is suggested, but it hurts that this thoughtful deliberation is almost entirely absent when ideas that strictly benefit the wealthy are considered.

If you really want to fuck them you need to block tax havens altogether (no transfers) and raise taxes on both capital gains and non commercial real estate thats not their primary residence.
Thats how you fuck them. If they flee to another country then just block/tax to death their companies. Its the only way.
You can also penalize parasitic behavior. Example: streamers, whose job is to make some "coffee talk" online, get taxed to oblivion, same with onlyfans prostitutes.

Because if you take more from the wealthiest then you can cut taxes on the poorest. It cant be too much to the point of total destruction of the system obviously but there is surely some margin. Theres a reason why the likes of Roosevelt and Bill Clinton were the best presidents you fags ever had.

that's not how the government works. whatever money they have will go to waste(read: wealth transfer to cronies and kikes). it will not benefit the common man.
i repeat: extra government money will NEVER benefit the average citizen. it will always go to buying $50,000 dollar/ea carbon fiber chairs for government works, and bombs from raytheon.

Wealth tax is not a bad idea in a capitalistic economy. It prevents wealth hoarding. The equivalent demand is a reduction or elimination of income tax. i.e. getting to 1 million dollars is tax free, beyond that is taxed

We DO have something like wealth tax in the form of property tax. More expensive your property, higher the tax (just like the more your wealth, the higher the tax). Virginia even taxes cars in this fashion, so if you have an expensive car they'll bleed you every year for it.

>non commercial real estate thats not their primary residence
This is what Singapore does, which has crazy house demand worse than NYC, and they have it mostly sorted. There are no apartment buildings there because such a project would be taxed so hard up the ass as to make it lose money. (they also give their criminals beatings which is based)

If you want wealthy people to pay more taxes gut the tax code and then lower the nominal capital gains rates.
Most of the tax "dodges" are built into the system on purpose.

A Wealth tax is a bad idea because it encourages even shorter term gambling to maintain liquidity.
Do you really think the American economy would be made less fake by even more finance bro type shit existing to service this tax? Are you out of your mind?

Good luck making these billionaire demons pay a cent. They actually get money back with taxes. They pay nothing and get a big return just for being fucking wealthy.
Meanwhile the working class is literally fucking defaulting on their homes left and right while investors buy everything up.
Policy has become a luxury only the wealthy can afford. And they get to shit in your face if you're not part of the upper class.
Our pathetic species is so gay it took boomers starting to die in droves for the world to realize they're being bled like a pig in a slaughter house by the rich.

If you keep voting on the right-wing or the "caviar-left" thats exactly what you get.
Hint: Kamala was unironically better than both Biden and Trump but you guys refused her. She literally said she would penalize real estate hoarders but no one listened or cared about it. Now your people will eat shit (along with tariffs and zionist propaganda/censorship lol). Not to mention more H-1B's which republicans like even more than the dems themselves.
