I could be wrong, but when I was in biology class we were taught that males have a higher percentage of mental illness cases because of how genes pass down. The Y chromosome is not "read" that way by the body. So only the X chromosome is being read. If your mother has a mental illness on just 1 of her X chromosomes you have a 50% chance of having that illness and it will manifest itself, whereas with girls, they get the X from their dad and an X from their mother, so both their mother and father would need to have the gene. What is that? 25% chance? IDK. The point is that is far less likely, and it wont manifest in violent tendencies because women don't have testosterone.

My uncle refused to go to a doctor and died because he got cancer. Didn't even know he had it until it was too late. I've heard countless examples of this.

Women have the luxury of masking, female privilege, getting extra help along the way. Boys typically get locked in rooms, and get told to deal with it. Shit festers in those rooms. Until America solves the male mental health crisis, well it's not looking good. But unfortunately a good deal of our society is based on men acting like real men, being real men, so it's all an issue that can't be solved easily. Society will sacrifice it's children sometimes in order to keep ignoring the true cause of the angry male shooter, which is that society doesn't care about nerds.
