BALTIMORE FELON IN POSSESSION SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS

BALTIMORE, Maryland - United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein announces that today U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake sentenced Edwin Tucker, age 49, of Baltimore, to 10 years in prison followed by 3 years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to the agreed statement of facts presented to the court, in June 2002 Tucker illegally distributed and possessed with the intent to distribute various prescription drugs, including Alprazolam, also known as Xanax. ATF agents searched Tucker on June 21, 2002 and found a leather purse containing $1,988 in cash and medicine bottles containing Xanax pills. A search of Tucker’s residence revealed a brown paper bag containing Xanax pills, $4,160 in U.S. currency, a box of .22 caliber ammunition, a Crown Royal bag containing twenty .32 caliber bullets and an Iver Johnson 12-gauge shotgun. Prior to June 2002, Tucker was convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year’s imprisonment.

United States Attorney Rosenstein thanked the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for their investigative work. Mr. Rosenstein commended Assistant United States Attorney Paul M. Tiao, who prosecuted the case.
