Went shopping at a local Whole Foods yesterday. Brough my cute chubby baby girl along with me and rolled her around in her stroller as I did my grocery shopping. I could tell that most millennial (and younger gen X) women would avoid me as soon as I started coming in their direction. Many would also seemingly leer at the baby or have a very contempt look on their face as I walked by them. Meanwhile some old hag brought her nasty little dog in the store in one of those ridiculous dog strollers (picrel). At one point I saw that a small group had formed around the dog with people telling the old spinster how precious her dog was.
I bring this up because last week when I went to Costco, I had a completely different experience. Multiple boomer+ (65 and up) women couldn’t resist engaging with my daughter, smiling, waving, or making silly faces to catch her attention. I'm not in any way fishing for complements (I don't give a shit what people think about my kid), but it is very strange how much millennial/gen X women seemingly hate kids. Younger women seem less comfortable around kids, while older women light up at the sight of a baby. I didn’t notice how stark these differences were until I had my daughter. Has anyone else seen this?
