But there is also a thing in the USA where if you live in a nice suburb everything goes to absolute shit when a bus station is built that goes to and from nearby major cities. When it is just streets and you need a car you tend to only have to deal with locals and people that actually care about the local community. When the bus or train comes it means scumbags from democratic shitholes can ride over, fuck shit up, steal, beg on the corners, and overall shitify a location up beyond repair.

We just don't have a need to increase the infrastructure because most people don't have 2-3 days to travel from central america to west coast, or longer from east to west/vice-versa.

We have other modes of transportation like buses and planes for quicker mass transport.

I personally like the train though, and there are other trains that are purely intrastate.
