When I talk on the phone I talk on a bluetooth headset or speakerphone. Holding that shit up to my ear is the dumbest way to talk.

That being said, I dont have a lot of phone calls and they are pretty brief. I can't talk to anyone but my wife for hours on end.

Boomer here. I spent the last 5 years bitching at Indian field techs who always had their phone on speaker while crash-banging around on their equipment.

Generally, boomers expect your full attention. They get pissed when you waste their time with your bungling around and multi-tasking. They aren't impressed at all of the metaphorical dust you're tossing up in the air.
