>>510064125I'm of the same mind, to enjoy life cause being sober sucks
I also know what real burnout looks like... mixed in with a complete breakdown and a midlife crisis at 30
I didnt mean to lecture, it just that everyone tells me I was on the wrong path, I may not believe them completely, but I know I'm done
If I go back in with drugs, I'm never making it out. Using them for fun recreationally is still something I'd look forward to once (if I ever manage to) get out of hole
Godspeed anon
>>510064968There's a famous psych experiment (my memory is garbage, but you easily find it) done post/during ww1 where they got combatants to shoot over inanimate targets vs human ones
It was noticed that most would default to aiming their guns upwards when it was a real person (and thereby shoot warning shots) while they showed no hesitation in hitting the mark on a painted target
The military then proceeded to incorporate techniques that allowed them to essentially break mean, and build them back up completely (essentially turning them into a poor facsimile of an aspd/psychopath/sociopath/whatever) before sending them to war afterwards
They made for great soldiers, alert, suspicious and never dropping the ball on the battlefield in a foreign hostile land... Till they get sent back to home, where theyre faced with a life that does not include the hostility and dangers they've faced
Needless to say, they made for great soldiers...who were incapable of slipping back into civilian life when they came back home alive
Tony is an example of someone who does have to balance those two aspects of life, even if you consider his rivals to be combatants rather than civvies ...so no, you're wrong in thinking its a walk in the park
People crumble because theyre human, its a fact that ive had to come to terms with myself
