It looks horrendously uncanny because of the lighting difference between those older scenes and the dark living room the actual actors were in. The actress who played Livia had died before filming started on season 3 and had to rewrite the scripts last minute to can her storyline. They tried to throw this scene in as a last dramatic spat between the two but it just looks weird and Gandolfini clearly struggles to act naturally in front of a green screen.
