The fuck is the deal with the Americans deifying their so called 'founding fathers' and treating 18th century opinions as prophecy?
It's cringe as fuck.

The American experiment is predicated on the notion that ideas supercede people. That the laws bind everyone, including the ones tasked with enforcing them. We don’t deify the founding fathers as such, we deify the principles they codified, because those principles matter more than the people who are currently in charge. Or at least, in theory. In practice the people currently in charge could give two fucks about the principles that are supposed to govern the country, everyone wants to pick and choose which principles “don’t count” to suit their ends. But, in essence, it’s about loyalty to ideas.

It’s natural isn’t it? It’s living proof that rule of law is a fantasy. Instead you get rule of the lawyers. They’re deified as the quasi-kings of the American kingdom as a matter of happenstance because deification of a constitution isn’t possible.

Well admittedly the US constitution is fairly well written, not that I know the whole thing.

Alexander Hamilton is shit and doesn't deserve to be up there. George Washington fought on the front lines and is the only man I know if in history to consciously turn down kingship for his principals. I don't worship them but they all have amazing stories and deserve respect
