We don’t deify the founding fathers as such, we deify the principles they codified, because those principles matter more than the people who are currently in charge. Or at least, in theory. In practice the people currently in charge could give two fucks about the principles that are supposed to govern the country, everyone wants to pick and choose which principles “don’t count” to suit their ends. But, in essence, it’s about loyalty to ideas.
