You know how Hong Kong was one of the richest countries in Asia with tons of millionaires wealthier than the majority of western people? At the same time a large portion of people were living in cages paid pennies a day.
It's the same deal with Taiwan and Singapore. They have a wealthy elite but a massive lower class and even instances of glorified indentured servitude.

Taiwan doesn't like that US are interfering with their country's economic policy (sudoku mandate for their semiconductor industry) and dictating their foreign policy of required spending on US weapons which is just further endangering Taiwan.

chinese people used to invest in taiwan, now they cant.
