How common are trucks like pic related in the US?
I work construction and most of the guys I've worked for own something like this. You don't need a truck license to drive one, they are just small enough that you can fit them down tight streets or into tight sites, and you can haul massive amounts of sand and soil or trash. Most sites we don't even bother with a skip bin and will just fill this thing up during demo and make runs to the waste centre.
When it comes to tools most guys will have a tool trailer that they attach to their mid size pick up (Ford Ranger or Toyota Hilux). That way if you need to make a run to a hardware store or something you can leave the tool trailer on site for the apprentices and labourers to use.
With this setup there really isn't a need for a full size pick up. A mid size is capable of towing the majority of machinery you might wanna pick up, and if not then you can just tow it with pic related.
I have started to see more F150s and RAMs on the road in the past 5 years but the Australian construction industry has lasted the majority of my life without them so I don't really buy the utility argument. They are pretty cool though.

My first accident was a few years ago when my shitbox 98 corolla got hit almost directly head on by an F250 when the driver ran a red light. The F250 had so much clearance that its right wheels went up OVER my car it proceeded to flip 3-4x, landing like 200ft down the road. The entire right side of my car was practically completely gone and anyone sitting in those seats would've been dead 100%. The retarded truck driver got fucked up for life too and hopefully has even worse chronic pain than me.
