It’s fucking criminal how little engineering pays now. Our salaries got completely fucked by inflation. 10 years ago $73k was a good starting salary out of college. Now? Same fucking thing, except $73k isn’t shit anymore

Don’t forget you owe loans for five plus years of college to attain a bachelor’s. So in reality unless you keep taking classes, you are paying at least $7k of that a year to your loan.

Not sure if you’re joking, but given the schooling required, yeah it pretty much is. You might as well just be an equipment operator, with overtime they’re making more than engineers now

It gets better: also word of advice, look for promotional opportunites, or get experience and move to another company, that's usually a 10% bump - don't stagnate and look for growth; learning the business never hurts either. I'm an Engineer with 20 years and moved into roles. Average starting ME salary was around 50k then.

But that’s probably the whole hustle package. Affiliate links, advertising deals, paid per click ads, and even third party engagement. Which means working more than 40 hours a week. Nothing is free and if it were easy, every person you know would do it and be shitty at it and still make a fortune. I’ve looked into it myself and it is a whole hustle.

If you're an American, that means you can get a security clearance to work in the defence sector.

Despite being a rich and successful engineer - I cannot. They require 10 years of US residency.

You have access to a sector that isn't allowed to take H1B visas. So you can make something happen.
