>>510151728>I think that in those 3 years, the US/UK can fortify Ukraine much more effectively than Russia can built back its army and assets. This incorrectly assumes a boatload of shit that is wrong about the deal that Putin could have struck.
>those 3 yearsThis is a huge part of why Trump is pissed, Trump wanted Putin to set terms early so they could be butt buddies for upwards of 4 years or as close as possible, this is why he talked all that shit about ending the war on Day 1. With each month that Putin fucks around at the negotiation table Trump realizes he fucked up trusting Putin.
>US/UK can fortify UkraineWhy would the US be spending money rebuilding Ukraine's capabilities in the meantime? In this deal, the US and Russia would essentially become economic partners hand in hand which would have put Russia's ailing economy into rocket ship mode and given Putin a huge war chest to return to his pet war with in a few years time. All the while the US would force terms on Ukraine that would rip their fangs out and make them complacent, basing the agreements on the assumption that Russia wouldn't fuck them in the ass later while Putin would know that to be false.
Again, Putin had an easy layup but was getting off on having the US as a pet that he strung Trump along too long and now the con man knows he's been conned and is spitting mad about it.
