I remember in the 1990s growing up (born in the 80s) that everyone on the street knew each other, nobody was a stranger, people in my street were somewhere between acquaintances and friends, closer than acquaintances, not as close as friends, but there was some kind of trust and socializing with people in the same street. It was not just young families with kids, it was the older people too.
Now, I still live in the same suburb, and it's night & day difference. I never see anyone in the street. Nobody socially interacts anymore, everyone is a total stranger.
What caused this change?
