The fact is that America was settled by religious extremists and tends to be more religious and low class.
However Charles Darwin said that there was a trend in his day of the people moving to America being those with the greatest sense of adventure, exploration, and innovative drive. US tax policy for a long time has been established to drag innovators into the country, and certainly many great European minds have moved here for the open market conditions.
You also have that staunch East Coast WASP elite, which is per-eminent in the world.
I think that a bigger trend here needs to be mentioned.
1) The urban sink.
The fact that urban areas have such a low birthrate, and are centers of economic production, is a problem. You are drawing all your most intellignet, bright-eyed, productive people into the city, where none of them reproduce. This trend has completely hollowed out Britain of its intellect, and much of Europe for that matter. The same trend is happening to America. That's why these cities require talented immigrants to fill the gap, which of course drain their potential as well.

2) The breakdown of the class structure.
The fact is that northern Europe has largely been a mix of 2 groups actually. Germanic people, who evolved in the icy wastes of scandinavia. And Celtic people, who frlocked in the forests of central Europe. The Germanic people have always been the overclass, and the Celtic people the underclass.
By breaking down the class structure and opening things up to mixing, we are losing the elite that we count on to undergird our society, which makes us reliant on a foreign elite. This is one of the most devastating things for our population, we need a homeborne elite that can represent us or we will perpetually be the master of foreigners.
Candace's statement is shocking, and funny, and clearly intended for her black audience to smirk at. But misses the mark.
