>posts a meager monthly surplus that will disappear with offsetting budget increases
https://fiscaldata.treasury.gov/datasets/debt-to-the-penny/debt-to-the-penny
>6/2/2025 public debt $36,214,400,664,854.53
>7/10/2025 public debt $36,595,101,611,079.13
so the debt increased by $380,000,000,000.00ish dollars from june until 2 days ago, that isn't a budget surplus.

Did treasury secretary Bessent reschedule some payment to other months so they could achieve this surplus in June? I note that in the months preceding June, outlays are significantly higher in 2025 than for the same months in 2024. And the cumulative deficit in June is still up 5% compared to the same period last fiscal year

Also, why is the surplus $27B drawn about 5-6 times wider than the customs duties $27B?

news articles indicate that there's some sort of calendar adjustment made to the Jun-25 numbers that result in the slight monthly surplus. if it weren't for the calendar adjustment the Jun-25 numbers would yield a $70B deficit. i can't really identify the adjustment in the pdf i linked, but then again i'm just skimming it.

It would make sense that there is some such type of phenomenon at play here. You can see on page 5 that revenue and outlays sometimes fluctuate widely month to month, sometimes yielding surpluses
