I have liberal family members and they are Marxist-commie-socialist, I don’t even understand how one can be all 3. They are just big capitalist and worry about their 401k like my Republican family members. They get together still and all they talk about is social security. Communism, Marxism, and socialism have been completely BTFO. In those ideologies the individual is always subordinate to the state, the collective, the commune, whatever. Today’s "left" is very different. It is made up of hyper-individualists completely focused on identity politics. They have far more in common with liberalism, which emphasizes the primacy of the individual, universal rights, tolerance, and diversity. None of those values were present in the state socialism of China, the USSR, or similar regimes.

Marx himself saw the individual as an ideological construct of capitalism. Even so-called "cultural Marxists" like Gramsci, Marcuse, Horkheimer, and Adorno were critical of individualism. They saw it as corrosive to leftist ideals. The modern left’s embrace of individual identity would have been completely alien to them.

She's just riling up boomers to deflect from the Epstein fiasco.

The left really did lose decades a go. America and individualist ideologies really did win. The victory was total.
