Yeah I think it's the bluffing and fluffing of their ego. To strike fear is to fell powerful and they're completely powerless people, who want to FEEL/PRETEND they have some kind of power over others. Cancel culture was about that, getting emotionally upset, getting their ego bruised and exercising power by trying to dox and fire people.
