You have a country with 10M people. It's 99% religion A and 1% religion B.
You add 1M people to that country. Of those 1M, 98% were religion A and 2% were religion B.
Religion A increased by 980,000 people.
Religion B increased by 20,000 people.
Yet when you look at which one is "Growing faster," you'll find that Religion B is, because it got a 100% increase while the other religion suffered a slight drop in overall population.
This is why raw numbers are always better than trends when it comes to extreme minorities.
