astronomers want somehow to get their own satellite to circle moon, vs circling earth

earth satellites are problematic due to eartsh magnetic field but if a satellite orbits moon sufficiently far away from earth, it can avoid the effect

https://cosmosmagazine.com/space/exploration/cosmic-dawn-far-side-moon/

Astronomers are planning to launch a tiny spacecraft to the far side of the Moon to listen out for "ancient whispers" in a quest to uncover the secrets of the early universe. The mission will focus on understanding the 'Cosmic Dawn', a period in the early stages of the universe after the Big Bang but before the first stars and galaxies appeared.

One of the difficulties in studying this period of the universe is that silence is essential. With all the electronics and interference in our atmosphere, Earth becomes too loud, making it unsuitable for this kind of research... Earths own orbit on the other hand has too many satellites already + Earths magnetic field.

The proposed mission will utilise the Moon as a giant shield, blocking out the noise from Earth, in order to observe these signals...

The mission, known as CosmoCube, is a joint study between the UK's University of Portsmouth, University of Cambridge and Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Space... CosmoCube's radio will operate at low frequencies (10-100MHz), which should hopefully be able to detect extremely faint signals.

The satellite would function "most of the time" when its on far side of the Earth and it would not be operated when its in between Earth and Moon because that's when magnetic field starts to interfere again.

Moon has no magnetism! It does not produce any kind of field of electric interference. It is ideal dead world for observing signals from space.

Even Mercurius would be out of the question: while it looks like the moon, it is actually radioactive world and would distort all electronic communications.

what about a moon telescope? Or a giant telescope facility on the moon?

there are already multiple moon satellites

we even have satellites around mars and jupiter and a new satellite will be around mercury in a year

This is something I hate about this country.
It's pretty clear that the UK can do great things, but our government is so determined to stop it

a satellite would be an easier first step then constructing something on the ground on the moon
