There is a difference between spoken and written because French, unlike all other Romance languages was catered to by smart people and institutions to retain the exact spelling from ancient Latin and Ancient Greek.

The spelling in French today is identical to the spelling of these words 3000 years ago. It’s great. It’s as it should be. If you really want to unify spoken and written the only acceptable way to do it would be to go back to the grecko Gallo Roman of antiquity. But we also invented a lot of words since then by using the ancient roots like legos.

As for being monotonous it’s based, it’s a flat language, other languages sound hysterical with inflections going up and down as you talk and non constant pitch, it sounds disgusting
