The realist school of foreign politics claims that peace can only be achieved if all possible opposing alliances and factions can project enough power that a potential conflict becomes disadvantageous for both. It was what kept near a century of peace in Europe (albeit the limited and short wars), as well as the near century of peace after WW2.
Currently, Europe is re-arming itself forced by the United States. Europeans themselves are neurotics, convinced by the press that their historical trading partner Russia is an enemy that may invade at any time. So much they consider inevitable a russian invasion that they may preemptively invade Belarus and Russia while attempting to drag the americans in through a fuzzy overstretch of article 5 of the NATO alliance.
I am not afraid of Russia invading Europe. There is nothing to gain there, and Putin (unlike euro propaganda claims about their decades-long trading partner) is not a fanatic. I VERY afraid of Europe once again pulling their centuries-old stunt of invading Russia in their moment of weakness. They have invaded Russia 5+ times since the Napoleon, while Russia has invaded once (to Poland, after Poland invaded Russia and entered the russian civil war).
And this euro war will inevitably happen if Russia keeps showing weakness. Remember: Hitler invaded after Russia looked weak in Finland, and Germany invaded after Russia was squashed in Tannenberg. Russia is NOT looking strong in Ukraine by standing still.
How can Russia deter europeans? Europe is so cocky, they thought they could have all of Africa and Asia in their continent and be fine. They are 101% invading Russia again with a grand armeรฉ if they are not reminded they'll find out if they fuck around.
