It's how nons invade your countries.
If it wasn't for transportation, they could only move at the speed of walking or at best a horse. They would be easy to stop and easy to find and remove.

It also would require seizing land to build the routes. Eminent domain laws are, correctly, not as strong here. The government shouldn't just be able to take your land "for the greater good," especially when, for the US at least, that would most likely mean taking your land and giving it to niggers.

I'm okay with eminent domain being used for infrastructure that requires contiguous swaths of land like roads, plumbing, and electricity. It's a problem when they take land to build affordable housing or an industrial park because those are both about private ownership. They can build those someplace else; they don't need to be in the city center.

>it's tedious to drive and no one would fly from Portland to Seattle
Nobody in portland flies to seattle or vice versa not because it's expensive or inconvenient but because there's no reason to. It's not like there's any compelling business motive to move people from seattle to portland really at all let alone at high speed. The population densities are like a tenth of what they'd need to be to make on road transit enough of a nightmare that people would choose highspeed rail over just driving. The US just isn't remotely dense enough or poor enough to justify mass transit generally except for a small handful of the densest population centers, and new high speed transit projects that are redundant considering our existing air travel infrastructure is never happening. Who's paying for it? Who's going to deal with the logistics of land acquisition?

Air travel is objectively superior for medium to long distance jumps but I don't blame you if you're a lanklet. I've got an old friend who's 6'6 who pays double the price of a plane ticket in fuel to drive his camaro half way across the country rather than just taking a 2hr flight because 15hrs with cruise control on is more tolerable for him than 2hrs crammed into coach seats designed for 6'1 165lb people max.

Why should we pay for it with our taxes? The Chinese government printed money to build this maglev and charges for people to use it.
In order for a project to be solvent it needs to at very least make it's investment back.
China printed money and lent it out to their state owned construction group and passed the debt on to another financial vehicle which reports that the interest is paid on time even when it isn't and the project makes no money. Because the state construction firm cut corners some of the tracks are falling apart and are dangerous to use.

Trains are way more preferable to air travel. In USA your trains are shitboxes and your only experience is probably on the tubes, which aren't trains. On a high speed rail like the ones in Europe and China vs and Airpolane you have way more leg room, much comfier seats with a hole damn table for your stuff. There's no security or checking in two hours before your flight, just walk up to the platform 5-10 minutes before your trains arrives and get on.

My little town is a ways off the train line and a little inconvenient to get to. Not coincidentally it is almost entirely white and Jewish. No urban problems although our town government once wanted to waste money on a "community center" that would have attracted urban youth from a nearby town. Fortunately that didn't happen.

The point of trains is freight, there's never a world where paying for railway maintenance and upkeep over long distances compared to planes which sit in hangars until someone charters a flight is preferable. When did this passenger train meme begin? Who asked for a tremendously expensive inefficient means of transport? At least metro systems make sense within urban areas, but even then banning cars and a bus system is still better than maintaining a metro. Even the metro in Japan stops working at midnight. The more I read about passenger trains the more I start thinking there's some Potemkin village antics going on in Europe(?) and China. Not sure about Europe considering they mostly use trains for freight as well. Realistically how often do you need to move between states, and furthermore who is going to maintain the railways?

The rows behind don't have a whole damn table for their stuff. Do they have seatback tray tables like airplanes? Or not even that? But it's got to be more efficient to run a train than flying a little sausage with <200 passengers, 30,000 feet in the air.

But trains are significantly slower, why the fuck would I want to take a 12 hour "high speed" train from NY to LA when I can be there in half the time on an airplane?

If you could actually get a high speed traing that travelled from NY to LA, say doing around 300mph like China's, France or Japans current high speed rail does, it would not take you twice as long, timing would be very similar considering you have to spend over 2 hours in the airport before getting a plane, you don't have to do that on rail travel. Also as I said rail travel is far more comfortable and you have basically zero chance of death vs air travel. You can get up and walk about, use the bathroom, change seats whenever you want on a train. It is always supperior. If I had to choose between a 7 hour flight+Airport time option to get to my destination or a 8/9 hour train, I'm taking the train every time.

Yes you would. Any security theater air travel is subject to, high speed rail would as well. The only reason current rail travel isn't a horroshow of TSA bullshit is because nobody uses it but droolers and youtube travel content creators. It would be the same exact shit at half the traversal speed at best.

Lmao dude you are retarded, I live in europe, I have used high speed rail. You don't have to go through security, check in bags or do any of the airport style bullshit because you are jsut getting on a train. You take your bags on with you without paying extra to do so and there is zero chance of someone being able to commandeer a high speed train so they don't need the post 9/11 airport style checks. Obviously USA is a lawless hell hole where everyone owns guns so maybe you will have to do something different there lol.

I know, that's why I was explaining to you the reason americans use planes instead of shitty trains. As I said, for distances in excess of 500mi or so a flight is still faster from airport entrance to airport exit than the fastest maglevs even accounting for the domestic flight security timeloss. The disparity only grows as you get closer to a JFK to LAX or SEA to MIA cross country flight. You don't have to like it but that's how it is.

No, it's not, and no, it's not astonishing. Maglev is mid, and this train will roll over somehow because chinks built it, not nips.

This story is obviously to cover up ten planes going down, or some big chinese kid rap/people trafficking for jewish owners scandal.

>300mph
That's top speed
Trains need to accelerate and decelerate to stop at stations, and there's studies about how much acceleration passengers are comfortable/safe with. They also need time to unload/load passengers at stations. All that reduces average speed a lot. These were also the reasons why Hyperloop was never going to work as clsimed, even if it was technically/economically feasible, which it wasn't.
