Why do people get so upset when you question the legitimacy of dinosaurs?

I fucking love raptors and deinonychus. They’re so badass.
I have about 20 chickens and I know they’re not necessarily like raptors but I think they’re so fucking cool and every day for an hour I’ll sit with them and watch them do chicken things. I wish I could see what raptors looked like and how they acted.

What I always wonder about is how they know the fossils are distinct species and not just the same species?

I think they’re see where in the geological time the fossil is found and the area. Kind of like how native animals in one area can be genetically distinct from the same animal in a different area. Like elephants in Africa are genetically distinct from elephants in India.

distinct morphological differences and/or difference in time and place
anatomical evidence is king for this, though unfortunately there are too many guesses because sometimes all that is found is slightly smaller vertebra or something and someone jumps the gun to claim a new species despite it very well might just be a juvenile

My biggest problem with dinosaurs is how the “experts” are so confident in how they behaved, what they sounded like, what the climate was like, etc. how the fuck would they know that by finding a piece of a couple pieces of bones that are 60 million years old. And you’re not allowed to question it without looking like a schizo

Every expert I've asked (like 4 at this point) gives like 3-4 reasons, then ultimately end with "but at the end of the day, best we can do is extrapolate from what we see in the modern animal kingdom."
Which is fair enough.

They aren't confident, and you are allowed to question it. That is why you see the depictions of velociraptor change over the decades.

Have you ever seen the skull of a hippo? It looks far more menacing compared to how the head of a live one looks.
