The Pentagon is pressing Japan and Australia to make clear what role they would play if the US and China went to war over the Taiwan region, the Financial Times reported on Saturday. This amounts to pressuring them to commit to taking frontline roles in the event of a "Taiwan contingency." According to the report, this move has left both Tokyo and Canberra "frustrated," as the US itself has not given "a blank cheque guarantee to Taiwan." Sources familiar with the matter revealed that the Pentagon has been "pushing the issue in meetings with Japanese and Australian defense officials in recent months," with the main driver being Elbridge Colby, US under-secretary of defense for policy and an extreme hawk in Washington.

The problem is Taiwan is pretext.
US official stance is one China since 1943 Cairo declaration with Nixon later giving legitimacy to CPC.

What it means is that US doesn't really care who Taiwan belongs to, or the people (asians are second class citizens in the US establishment), it wants to wage war against China for other reasons, not even that China is militarily threatening the US (which is unassailable due to natural geography regardless) but because they fear being supplanted as world superpower.

This is problematic for a variety of reasons. One it means US will wage war on any other nation even if they rise peacefully like China did and two it will be incredibly wasteful and destructive and will set humanity back hundreds of years if not permanently even if nukes don't fly.

Red China wont take Taiwan because all the Western invented chip making goes to Taiwan (for some reason) then CCP gets it.

Its much easier to go from Red China into a Taiwan chip plant than to go from USA to same.
