MEDICAL DEBT GOING BACK ON AMERICAN CREDIT REPORTS
Oh, you thought that medical debt wouldn't affect your ability to get a mortgage or loan? Not with Trump back in charge. Pay debnts, you lazy fucking deadbeats:

https://www.reuters.com/legal/litigation/us-judge-grants-trump-admin-request-scrap-biden-era-medical-debt-rule-2025-07-11/

>US judge grants Trump admin request to scrap Biden-era medical debt rule

>A federal judge in Texas on Friday granted a request from the Trump administration and industry groups to scrap regulations adopted during Joe Biden's presidency that removed consumers' medical debts from their credit reports, court papers showed.

>U.S. District Judge Sean Jordan, whom Trump appointed in 2019, agreed with current leadership of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and financial industry trade groups that the rule, adopted in January, exceeded the CFPB's legal authorities and should be vacated.

>Representatives of the CFPB, which ceased defending the rule after President Donald Trump took office this year, did not respond to a request for comment.

>However, Dan Smith, head of the Consumer Data Industry Association lobbying group, welcomed the decision, adding that medical debt helped indicate whether consumers could repay their debts. "This is the right outcome for protecting the integrity of the system," he said in a statement.

Because it is often involuntary. A credit score is supposed to reflect your credit behavior, and behavior implies volition. Getting shot by a stray bullet and sent to the hospital in a $1,500 ambulance ride for a $150,000 two-day stay is not exactly voluntary.

It's not indicative of your money-management skills; it's just an unfortunate calamity. Why would you want to punish people for that?

Why would Trump want to make the system less rational and less populist for normal people, though? This is the opposite of what he ran on in 2015.

I'm starting to think he might actually be going senile or no longer has the mental capacity to keep track of the things that his own administration is doing.

Because the point is that medical debt isn't real. That's the direction things were heading. The next step was separable bankruptcy for categories of debt (eg, you could bankrupt medical debt in particular without declaring a general chapter 7/11/etc.). But Trump just went in the opposite direction for no clear reason.

Why? That's a serious question. There was no reason to do this. Even if he thought the policy was bad, the obvious thing to do would have been to ignore it and leave it alone. Not to actively dismantle a popular policy.

I honestly don't see the problem. Somebody with massive amounts of medical debt shouldn't be able to get loans on top of them.

And to be clear, the biggest loan I've ever gotten in my life was ~3k for a used car. Free credit isn't some mana the government can just sprinkle on everyone; everybody who defaults costs the taxpayers money in the form of credit subsides.

Abusing loopholes in international treaties to avoid paying any taxes doesn't make them smart, it makes them a target for political gain. The taxes they pay are in the form of direct political contributions to both parties instead of income tax through the IRS. They face political blackmail from both sides forever based on their "economic" decision to evade paying taxes like the rest of us.

This is about American policy. No one believes anymore that staining people's credit scores is what makes the US healthcare system 'good,' which (in an era of 'iatrogenic' deaths and doctors from India and elsewhere dominating the upcoming medical corps) is hardly a point of agreement anymore.

'Go somewhere else' is also an extremely weak form of argument when the topic is domestic American law.

Voluntary care is not the only category of medical care which can accumulate debt. Again, if you are incapacitated due to injury, an entire system will click into motion which will start pouring debt on you, and you will have no way to stop that process.

And you think that should be on your credit report? Why? You have not even come close to making that case. That's not even the same question as debt repayment, since a credit report is a third-party document generated by a private corporation, not a court judgment.

It gets put on credit reports if you don't pay. Regular loans are listed along with whether you pay on time or not. Medical debt gets listed under "Collections" which are just a list of accounts where companies claim you owe money. In theory, if it's in collections, you could be sued to collect, but usually no one sues for bullshit bills because the amounts are small and judges are likely to toss the case (the medical jews sends bullshit bills to judges too.)

It's just not real debt, and collectively, Americans have decided not to pay it and to disregard it.

I have about $12k in medical debt from the birth of my children. I work in healthcare. I know the prices are inflated because hospitals want to get as much as they can from insurance companies. This practice also imparts a significant toll on the patient, but all they really care about is the guaranteed payday from insurance. Inflated drug prices are also bullshit. If there were no medical insurance, hospitals would have to adjust prices to meet consumer demand, or go completely out of business. We also need to deport niggers which we devote so much fucking free healthcare to for literally no reason. I will not pay my medical debt until prices deflate. That wont happen until pharmacy companies start reducing prices, insurance companies are abolished and niggers are removed.

Yes, there is also a fucking game they play with the debt. It will stay on your record for 7 years. The debt is resold to a collection agency for pennies on the dollar. They call you and if you acknowledge the debt, you owe it. If you never acknowledge, statue of limitation kicks in and 7 years they are fucked. Once you acknowledge the debt, the 7 year clock restarts too. You're best off just hanging up on them and telling them to fuck off, you have no idea who they're talking about. That’s debtors prison and an a front to God Almighty.

Throw that judge out of the window along with whoever in the admin pushed for this. Less subsidizing illegals
Instead of penalizing Americans whom are here legally and paying inflated costs due to all the illegals who freeload. Which is what it is.

So let me get this straight.
Illegals get free healthcare.
That cost is passed onto American citizens and legal residents.
So they are going to get penalized by the legal system because the Fed and state governments for years did nothing about the illegal problem.

If you wanted for the quickest way to anger God and for Him to tear up USA this would be one of them.

No more of this kind of stupidity.

People interested in getting medical debts repaid didn’t get you reelected Trump.

The forces and powers I work with.
Big tech.
DOD Pentagon and CIA
MAGA.

We did. So always remember who put you in power and it wasn’t the small shrimp like them.

Our interests come first.

And if I say I want student loans abolished I federalized and interest rates and interest growth frozen you better get it done asap.

Electing to not pay for health insurance is voluntary. If you gamble and lose then you deserve the consequences.

I have a high deductible plan and even that covers everything above $9000 in medical expenses. Get a job loser.

Racism is pattern recognition. To deny differences among peoples that were geographically separated for thousands of years is pure ignorance. Antisemitism is also just pattern recognition. Jews view non-jews as cattle (goyim) and are permitted by their religion to lie to the goyim for their gain. Hell, they have practices of deceiving their own god, so you had better believe they're taking advantage oc everyone without remorse. Shouldn't be too hard to find me with this sample. Get to work rabbi.

yeah, thats pretty much same system as UK (except no medical, as NHS) and exactly what I was wondering why it didn't happen with 'medical debt' in US - it being sold on to the first guppys that fancy their chances of being unpleasant enough cunts that they might collect a small %. But it obviously does. The going rate seems to be 1c in the $, if this is anything to judge by:
https://www.inquirer.com/news/philadelphia/rip-medical-debt-forgiveness-philadelphia-20230828.html
- which suggests, they reckon on at least 2% being collectable.

cheers for the explanations, but it still seems like there's a lot being taken on trust here: 'its *theoretically collectable*, but they'll never sue..'
$220B is a juicy plum, and if medikikes can force through stricter regulation on collections - which appears to be the direction of travel - getting collection rates up to even 10% is a $20B+ business. And another 14 million people in penury, but no-one appears to give much of a shit 'bout them.

It doesnt help that the pricing for medical stuff is literally just made up funny numbers. Im sure its just a coincidence that we get a lot of medical supplies from Israel.
