Actually a non-unhinged Jewish take for once. I don’t think it’s true though, if the engine gets hit and the fuel tank explodes the crew is fucked. They put the engine in the back of the tank to protect the crew, it’s all intertwined. If I tank gets hit badly enough to kill the crew inside, in 99% of cases they probably wont be using that tank again either way because it got fucked up. I respect that some Jewish tank commanders were driving backwards, it’s the thought that counts but in reality it probably didn’t do much or save many lives imo…if the tank gets hit in the fuel tank or one of the munitions gets hit then it’s gave over. The inconvenient truth is that tanks have ALWAYS been death traps. You trade a little security by having thin armor protect you from small arms fire in exchange for putting an even bigger target on your head for even heavier weapons like javalins and other tanks plus many other random powerful weapons.
