We are probably going to start building SMRs soon. The Secretary of Energy is an SMR guy and they just finished testing at least one example at INL and finished pebble based fuel system testing at ORNL last year

you can, but you will be cooling the Earth's mantle, and that over time will cool the core and that will make it stop spinning and that will make the magnetic field collapse and that will make cosmic rays fry the atmosphere and that will make the Earth have no atmosphere

I believe it's MIT but their is research into modifying oil rigs into geothermal which is just dumping water into a hot hole and use the steam to spin turbine pretty based and darn near free energy. We have tons of options on energy we just have to stop sucking the cocks of big oil but the jewelry won't let that happen

Earth is really fucking big compared to us. We're like dust on its surface. We could detonate every single nuke at same time and it wouldn't affect earth structurally at all and it still would be weaker than a single supervolcano lol

America cannot migrate into nuclear plants because the future jeet-spic-nigger workforce would not be able to maintain a single one without catastrophic meltdown, making the land totally unlivable.

Sorry bro. Regardless of how small the risk i just don't think a technology where poisoning an areas watertable or large swaths of land is at possibility at all is worth it when there are options that don't pose that risk at all. Not to mention the issues with waste that even should thorium reactors be adopted only diminish rather than solve. Cost to energy is great in the long term but the risk reward still isn't. Similar reasons as to why i don't like fracking. By the same coin however I do think it's silly for anyone ok with fracking to oppose nuclear.

it's part of the slomo genocide they consider 'healing the world'. i don't think the devious cunning fronts know how to run the numbers and which. their handlers do know. and it's more about lack of energy really than safety.

You can eliminate the risk entirely, you bury the reactors in a mining cavern. Even if the reactor explodes chernobyl style the silicon in the earth glassifies and contains the fallout.

I say the following as someone who supports nuclear power, and wants to see it used more often with new plants being built and old ones being renovated. Nuclear waste IS a problem, and as if that weren’t a big enough issue? When nuclear power goes wrong, it REALLY goes wrong. Making huge swathes of land no go zones for several generations? Scary. Making farmland useless for potentially centuries? Also scary. Plumes of radiation that can spread globally? Still scary. Some of the Soviet Union’s fuckups with nuclear power alone are the stuff of nightmares and I’m not even talking about Chernobyl. So. To do nuclear power in a way that isn’t going to make everything worse you have to do it very carefully.

We already have reactor designs that are meltdown-proof.
We can store the waste deep inside mountains while the technology develops.

>store the west in deep dumps
Yes. Assuming those get built, are built correctly, and there’s no issue transporting the waste to them. While I again agree? If you consider the kind of harm a spill, containment breach, or just idiot fucking around and finding out with the stuff can do? It’s not something that can just be assumed as safe out of hand. Ideally the reactor and the waste disposal site would share a location. Which might be a good idea anyway since you need a highly geologically stable area to build either of them.
>meltdown proof
There are ways to mitigate risks, and modern designs definitely seem to have a much better safety record. Just we should never, ever, under any circumstances assume a nuclear system is 100% safe. You know the saying about idiot proof systems and the universe inventing better idiots. Still. Between modern designs, on site disposal, and advanced fuel reprocessing? The rewards vastly outweigh the risks.

Yes. Just put down some poorly designed plant where the corp running it can cheap out on everything, and then have a nice meltdown and make people too afraid to use nuclear power for another 50 years. Brilliant. Clever idea. That’s way smarter than a careful long term overbuilt design with on site waste disposal. Way better.
