In theory Rhodesian system was very good for them. It was a system that would educate local tribes and integrate them into western world with time in a way that wouldn't kill their local culture. In practice it failed because black people can't just live peaceful lives in normal societies without destroying them so like any other country that has too many many blacks or browns, it failed.
