In general Israel seems to report about half of their losses, but the real truth often gets out on hebrew telegram channels before the IDF announces losses of about half as many.

And if I was running Israel/IDF and relying heavily on female soldiers, female casualties would be the most important thing to downplay.

there were only 8000 settlers in gaza surrounded by over 1.5 palestinians at the time. they needed constant protection by soldiers, which made the situation far too expensive in the long run. unlike the wb, gaza has no great religious significance for jews, which is why the withdrawal was welcomed by the majority of the population at the time.
