>>510389623 (OP)Getting (people) to Mars isn't hard, it's getting them back (alive). Think of what we had to do for the Lunar lander, and now jack up all the numbers. Land on a planet with more gravity and bring enough fuel to take back off. Join up with an orbiter that itself has to bring more fuel for both its trip there and back, as well as its orbit. Do all these things with a 30 minute delay when contacting Earth or even without Earth's help if Earth is behind the Sun at the time. Do all these things on a two year mission with people living in a broom closet the entire time. You ever have a friend or family member over for a little too long and even though you love them they start to get on your nerves? Imagine that but there's no way for anyone to leave. People have said the best crew to Mars would be a husband and wife and I believe it. if two people can stand each other enough to get married they can stand being locked in a space ship for two years.
