at what age should you give your son his own gun? assuming you raised him properly and he doesnt troon out in his teenage years or acquire some other leftwing mental illness? im thinking 16 because by then hes mostly finished the rapid stages of puberty and you can be sure you trust him to be responsible enough and at this age he should also be muscular and skilled enough to rely on as a force multiplier for home defense of your women and property

Teach them to shoot as young as you want but dont give them the gun until they are 21. Hunting rifles are different though. Maybe a .22LR like 10-12 if they are going to learn how to hunt.

You "give" him a gun when he's proven he can reiterate every last rule of gun safety in his sleep and knows how to properly maintain every last bolt and screw.
Same reason I'd never give my child a car without it being competent in doing oil changes and parking drills.
When he's ready is determined by whether he's mature enough to handle it on a technical level at the absolute minimum.

what a bunch of pussies in this thread. both my kids were single digits when they got their first 22. my son got his first Liberty gun safe at 15. at 17 he has more guns and ammo than the average /pol/ user * 10. he does not have the combo to my big safe. not a trust thing, I have some real funs in there as well as all pistols that aren't just wily nilly hid around the house. I've bought him almost 2 guns a year on average since he was 10. I missed a hunting trip with him when he was 13. bought him 4 rifles that year to say sorry. the kid is a natural marksman and ready for the race war.

Irresponsible parents must be put in jail. Kids this young are not supposed to have access to this shit. And scrolling /pol/ on top of that, with the catalog regularly filled with BBC porn. I'm not letting my kids anywhere near phones until they're 18.

I then ramped up the psychological and physical abuse until he was 10. He was completely broken. All he wanted was for his old man to think he wasn't gay. That day I left an AR 15 on his bed and completely left the family. It was time for him to step up and be a man, he had an AR. IDK what ever happened to that family. I'm sure He's fucking though.

>BREAKING NEWS!

The magazine ban case Duncan v. Bonta is going the Supreme Court THIS WEEK!

Anyone remember the huge 2A debacle last month when the court simply declined to hear the AR15 ban case Snope v. Brown and the other magazine ban case Ocean State Tactical v. Rhode Island? Well there is a new plan this time. You see, the Trump administration has asked the Supreme Court to take several cases ranging from Federal layoffs to immigration and
EVERY
SINGLE
TIME
the court has not only obliged but expedited. This means that if the administration formally asks SCOTUS to take Duncan v. Bonta THEY WILL HEAR THE CASE. After that, all magazine bans NATIONWIDE will forever be ruled unconstitutional.

Now is the time to do your part and spread the word. Guntubers and other influencers need to know that not only is this possible but it is realistically the ONLY path forward. Help put the pressure on or the court will surely decline to hear this case AGAIN.

Depends how many children you have and their own particular strengths and weaknesses. If they are inclined towards wanting a gun, you could use it as a carrot to test sustained good behavior. It all depends on individual maturity.

Genuinely, though, you would want to be monitoring their online and informational access and any personality changes once they have a gun, of course.

as early as you can, but only if they're mature enough. the little kids who are like old souls can be taught very early, like 5 even. if you have a neurotic little shit, hold off until like 10. I was one of the calm mature little kids and learned at 5, but I STILL went into my parents room and showed the guns off to my friends a couple of years later when parents weren't home. the good thing about me being taught and knowing how to handle them though, was that I knew how ho handle them and made sure they were unloaded. if you don't teach kids, and they find one, that's far mroe dangerous. they will just finger fuck the trigger immediately. kek

I received my first gun at age 11, I bought my son a rifle at about 2 months of age

Granted I was born and raised in Canada.

Generally speaking, if a child shows behaviour that indicates they can follow directions and listen & exercise discipline they are old enough to have a firearm. I would concede that it would be best for liability purposes to lock it up.

Give him an airsoft first, then a proper rifle, finally a handgun.
At each stage make sure he handles the weapon responsibly before proceeding.
If he's retarded and won't do this, stop. He's getting no more guns from you.

My old man started me with a 22lr at about 9 and I moved up to a SKS by the age of 10 or 11. I use to love telling my classmates and teacher that I was shooting a "russian assault rifle". LOL! I would go with my childhood buddy Matthew to his dad's hunting land out in Edna,Tx. It was the shit for a kid to run around on all that land and pop fireworks, shoot our guns, and hunt for Chupacabras. I looked just like kid in picrel.

Personally I had a BB gun around the time I started school, and was a decent shot with a .22 well before I was 10. I didn't really have my own personal gun or anything, but shooting and target practice was not an uncommon activity growing up.
In my early teens I got "my" first guns that I still own to this day (8mm Mauzer and 16ga Ithica shotgun), which were the mates to two guns my father owned.

Don't be like that Detroit couple who gave their retard 15-year-old a handgun, which he used to shoot up his school literally next day.

I got a red Ryder bb gun at like 5 or 6. I had shot a real gun, supervised and being held of course, around that age too. Never really had my 'own' gun until I was 18. Could go shoot or hunt squirrels by myself with permission at the same age you can hunt deer, so like 12 or 13. Shot trap starting at like 16 and had a separate gun but it was one of my dad's old ones or a bunch of different parts. Our cousin is somewhat wealthy and had a nice buenelli he'd let me use but the stock was short for me and never fit me right anyway.

I gave my son a shotgun. He's 6. Obviously he only shoots it when I'm around. I think 14-16 is a good age for unsupervised shooting if you have land and you've observed him being responsible for years. I think I was allowed to shoot my 22 alone at about 14.

Yes they will apply this week but as you already know SCOTUS will not hear it. The difference now is we have seen
OVER
AND
OVER
that if the court is officially ASKED to take a case, they WILL hear it! That is what we need now, to raise awareness, because 99.99% of gun owners do not even know this is a possibility. Yet, it is our best path forward. Can you believe it?

Let's be realistic. As a Californian, a SCOTUS case is your ONLY path forward.
