Not really. A tendency to overproduction of female hormones would tend to produce daughters who have heightened secondary sexual characteristics. So you have a 50-50 shot of either producing a son who isn't very likely to have kids, or a daughter who is extra likely to have kids. If you add to this the until-recent social pressures that suppress homosexuality, the balancing effect of "men that don't tend to reproduce" is diminished further and the genes for extra estrogen proliferate.
