in America bringing out food or menus is just a small part of the job. In our family restaurant (been around 46 years now) we put every single teenager from our family to do every low end job for 1-2 years including waitress job.

I’ve been working valet at a hotel for about a year now. Today a guy tipped me and said “thank you for your time” before he left, first time anyone has ever said that to me. I’ve been tipped for making some drunk girls laugh. I am trying to serve each person with an experience they might not otherwise have - some of the other valet guys will sit in our back office unless someone calls for a car or is yelling for someome to come to the window.
