Funny, a lot of Poles share their gas chamber stories now after Braun interview. Meanwhile family from my mom side has Jewish roots, they lived in todays Ukraine during WW2, and they dont remember anything like this. None of them was ever in any camp. They always used to say that Ukrainians were million times worse than Germans, especially during these OUN-UPA massacres. My family had to escape and hide back then. But both German occupation and soviet occupation of Western Ukraine where my Jewish ancestors lived were rather normal. My great-great-grandfather had a shop in the small town and he was supplying with things both of occupiers. First it was soviets, and then after 1941, it was Germans. He had good relations with both. Hell began when Ukrainians began to make ethnic cleansings, there was no other way than escape. But my family never seen any executions or pogroms, it basically never happened. So we have rather fond memories of Germans.
Later on some of my Jewish family members joined communist party and they were making careers in communist Poland.
Meanwhile family from my fathers side are gentiles and traditional Polish patriots. My great-great-(whatever)-granddad had biggest net of butcherhouses in Warsaw. He died during Warsaw uprising in 1944 and later on all his property was nationalized by commies. He was a very rich man
