What motivates someone to be a public school teacher? Are they actually so brainwashed they think they are helping children and youth grow intellectually?

It's very telling that /pol/'s common topics of hate are people/professions that are in positions of minor authority. Nurses, teachers, parents. I think nearly every one of these threads is just an outpouring of anger into the abyss.
Did you have a mean teacher? Why haven't you gotten over it yet?

Some just really like being around kids.

Unemployment. Nobody I know actually wanted to do it. Oh, and it's next to impossible to have full working hours in just one school. Those lucky enough to work are forced to drive all across the country just to teach a few classes.

By and large, teachers are not smart people. 105 IQ tops, barely sentient. Just smart enough to parrot what they were taught to provide rote instruction to others. They're basically people who should be doing manual labor, but were able to use what little brains they do have to convince people they were smart long enough to get a piece paper that says they can babysit your child for the state. Not surprising that a lot of school teachers are kikes. There are exceptions of course, I had some brilliant teachers, but they were the exception. And they were always swimming upstream against a retarded school administration. They were usually good natured autistics that actually really liked and were true experts in the subject they taught. They were able to teach it with a child like enthusiasm to get you to appreciate the subject as well. All teachers should be like that though, if you don't love your subject enough to get a bunch of kids to like it, you shouldn't be a teacher.

It's funny how many girls I went to university with ended up defaulting to being public middle school teachers after not being able to do anything with their degrees.
Marine Biology -> Middle School Teacher
Wildlife Management -> Middle School Teacher
Criminal Justice -> Middle School Teacher
Anthropology -> Middle School Teacher
If they were teaching classes that had something to do with their degrees, at least that would make some sense, but at best they end up teaching general science. Still, probably better teachers than those who received teaching degrees.

Kek it's so funny because thats probably what they taught you in government school, "bribery never works! you must always be honest with the government because they care about you so much and they love you!" etc, go to any Eastern European country you can bribe your way out of a speeding ticket like buying a soda. It's more sophisticated in the west, you either buy a politician through lobbying or you work for a government department and you bribe people through loyalty, like giving someone a promotion who always sucks up to you, or firing someone who disagrees with you and threatens your power. Everything you are taught in government school is a carefully designed lie to make you enjoy paying taxes.

You can get a good job through government education, but you must follow their rules, rule 1 never question them, anything they say is an absolute truth to be treated like the word of god, rule 2 give them compliments and always say how smart they are etc. This is true even in higher education. This never works in the long term though, so i suggest anyone who has been successful ldoing this to parasite as much as they can before the bubble collapses.

Bullshit advice. If you've managed to sit through 17 years of government education, it means you're compliant. It's just that there are so few white collar jobs in shithole countries such as mine and they're reseved for nepo babies. The thing is you need a MA to even be considered for any office or government job. Trust me, you don't want to work in private (wageslave) sector because you'll have to work like 4 people.

I taught in Oakland California.

I still remember the obnoxious niggers in my classroom. De'Vante, Keaira, Deondrey. Holy fuck they would never shut up, never listen, never follow directions, and respected absolutely no one. I watch police videos of belligerent teens and its exactly the shit I would deal with in my classroom every day.

The niggers were the worst but equally as bad were the students of other teachers - especially if they were an only child. These were kids who were enabled by their parents every step of their life. Lawnmower parents. They would get a 504 plan for "anxiety" which would allow them to be on their phone in class, listen to music, take tests home, turn in assignments whenever they wanted to. These parents would write 5 paragraph emails gaslighting you if you held their child to any accountability. Always went straight to the manager (principal) too.

Teachers deserve zero respect. The person who said 105 IQ is correct. My entire hallway was divorced women. They hate men/boys. They were rejected in school and went into teaching so they can have power over males. They punish boys. I taught the accelerated classes and my lowest 15 students were all girls because the fat single 50 year old teacher in the prior grade level wouldnt recommend the boys who passed the state test to the accelerated class, but recommended dozens of girls to the class that failed the test.

Once these women get tired of bullying the boys they become principals and bully the male teachers. Ask any male teacher and they will tell you that they get the worst kids in the school, because a female admin believes they need a "strong male influence since they don't have one at home".

I was a very good teacher. I still have letters from students who went to top schools - Stanford, Harvard, MIT, telling me so. But I also keep the write ups from the fat single female admin, the emails from the mothers saying the nastiest shit about me. Those keep me away.

>It certainly isn't the money.
In some states they are grossly overpaid, while in others they make less than garbage men. The states where they are paid a lot usually have powerful teacher's unions that make it nearly impossible to get your teaching credentials. One trick they love to use is that teachers with more "seniority" get first choice for open teaching positions. That way all new teachers are virtually guaranteed to be stuck in shitskin hellscapes for at least 10 years before they can choose a better (white) teaching assignment.

I'm not a teacher but I grew up in Maryland in a 95% white area and I think it would've been fun to be my teachers. Our classrooms were nowhere near as bad as the videos of Chicago public schools and shit that I see online that's probably more like your experience.
Kids laughed at offensive edgy jokes and threw paper balls, some pranks etc. But no nigger violence or disrespect (well not nearly that much).
Maybe that was just an early 2000s thing and after that teaching sucked more and more

Yeah I can't really respect anyone who endures twelve years of contemporary American public schooling and then turns around does four years of additional education so they can inflict it on someone else.

I saw a lot of the same bias as a student but it was all skewed towards the upper middle class kids who's parents had time and money for the kid to participate in whatever extracurricular the teachers coached or were interested in when they were in high school. Whether it was playing football or you and your friends had some shitty garage band or you were a "punk" like the idiot boomer art teacher was back in the 60s or something, as long as you had the freshest style and lots of friends you'd get the benefit of the doubt from the school admin every time. Pathetic servile losers fawning over stories of high school parties on the weekend with a wistful sigh.

As a student I thought it was a bit weird, as an adult in retrospect, goddamn those people were fucking dysfunctional. Like forget about the students they're fucking over, these people are killing themselves with emotional stagnation.

Studied teaching, worked as a teacher for a few years and mostly bailed. Hated too much of what i was expected to do, schools are bullshit. If you were only ever a student you dont even know how bullshit they are. If i could get funding parity with a public school and work independently i could outperform them in my sleep.

What initially drew me to it was just the cheesy stuff thats true about kids. If you have the patience for it, theyre amazing to be around, funny, kind, they notice things youve stopped paying attention to, highly imaginative. If youre an imaginative adult, they can be more relateable than a lot of adults. And if you have the inclination, it feels incredible to teach child something, to watch them develop. The impulse to teach is not dissimilar from the impulse to parent except youre trying to make it your profession also.

Every thread about schools should include a recommendation to read โ€œDumbing Us Downโ€ by john taylor gatto.
