It is not a stimulant and it does not help you stay awake.
I got put on this stuff after having an overnight sleep study done, and it took me a while to adjust to it. It is meant to help me sleep normally because I was sleeping multiple times throughout the day and never feeling refreshed and constantly feeling like I need another nap.
I am able to maintain a regular sleep schedule now, though I still find myself sometimes drifting into sleep especially after sitting for a long time.
I don't know what the medication will do to people with a normal/regular sleeping pattern, but I figure it will just have side effects and not much benefit.

Pop those suckers so much, i started getting tired after 3 hours of taking them, even sleep while on 200mg/400mg. Fucked my sleeping schedule where i stayed up for 2 days of of them, and sleep a good 22 hours for the past 4 months. They worked when you first start but don't take em like did . It makes it so that whatever you are doing you will continue doing. Tried it once because I needed to cram for a test the morning of. Normally when you complete a minor task like solve a problem or turn a page you briefly stop and reaccess the situation. Modafinal makes it so you skip that and don't have to constantly refocus on the activity. That was how it felt at least. I never had ADHD where that sort of thing was crippling, but it was very noticeable. Felt sober otherwise. That's simply not true on any level. Both in terms of pharmacology and subjective effects.

I have done both extensively as well as adrafinil and all sorts of other novel substances. Modafinil and it's analogues reduce some of the need for sleep and feelings of tiredness but they do not provide the focus and energy that amphetamines do. This is a natural consequence of the fact that they do not have the same method of action.
