There's a reason every other country, like Russia for example, gives billions in free grain to Africa per year, similar to China spending billions on aid there. It isn't out of the kindness of their hearts. It's because it's soft power and Africa is a resource rich country and both these places are expanding their interests to get those resources there.

The difference is Xi or Putin don't have idiots surrounding them insisting that it would be 'Russia first' or 'China first' to abandon their geostrategic interests in Africa and elsewhere. If anyone said that to either of them then they would be laughed out of the room and immediately fired, and rightly so.
