see, i was born in maine, which might sound funny to some folks since i talk like a southerner and carry myself like one too, but that’s just how life shook out—jewish by heritage, southern by upbringing, and politically? well, let’s just say i don’t fit neatly into any of those little boxes they like to hand out at the county fair of ideology. i’ve always believed in a mix of things, like a stew that don’t look pretty but sure does taste right—call it marxist-capitalist if you want, or maybe individualistic communist, whichever label floats your boat, but what it really comes down to is this: i think people should have the freedom to stand on their own two feet, but only if the ground beneath ‘em ain’t been stolen or poisoned or sold out from under ‘em by the same suits who keep telling us to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps while they’re the ones holding the boots.
