Microcosm of the whole, I know guys with Masters degrees from schools like Georgia Tech and Berkeley that settle for script kiddie work (if they get jobs at all) while girls with Business majors from state schools who took a few community college CS courses get Software Engineer jobs at top shelf tech companies. Meritocracy is dead.

I remember the story when it broke. If you looked at the github contributions you saw the bulk of the work was done by a male autist who everyone has forgotten, and cute girl whose contributions were the matplotlib equivalent of css formatting making an OMG face is all people will remember.

She's definitely the kind of girl that knows what photo angles work, and app she's a professor at CalTech now. The only mention of the guy who did the actual algorithm development in her wiki page (it isn't hyperlinked, no article for him) is him having to kiss the boot and saying anyone who says she contributed less is exist.
