The Epstein stuff is a bit of a distraction. MEDICAID will become the big political issue for the next several years. The budget bill trims a trillion dollars from the Medicaid budget over the next decade, which implies enrollment cuts of 12 to 17 million people currently on the program.
The Medicaid shit will be a lot bigger in 2026/2028 than Epstein. That's the REAL 'poison pill' that the GOP stuck into its budget. Especially if AI continues to put downward pressure on hiring.

This is what things will look like within a couple of years. Epstein will be largely forgotten, but the healthcare grenade will wipe out a lot of GOP seats. Even some Republican lawmakers are realizing the mistake they made, but it's too late at this point:
