If you look up a bunch of phrases on google, I'm actually on the front page as a "scene" or "emo" kid.

At one point, I had over 100k subscribers on youtube, 200k myspace friends and was all over the internet. Met Shane Dawson, DesandNate, BryanStars, etc.

I was making about 100k a year just on music downloads and merch. Then things died out, I stopped posting as much and sort of disappeared.

Now I'm in my 30s and I make 60k a year as a machine operator. I get no messages and basically live as a hermit. My early life was so different.

Every once in a while someone will comment on a old reupload asking what happened to me, but I honestly am ashamed I didn't manage to curate my little couple year long streak of popularity into something more.

I think it had good music, but the emo kids were actually insufferable. But I was born too late to hang out with real 2600 hackers, and I could only hang out by payphones until they dissapeared when I was 15.

Best I can do is html and BASIC on the coding front, "hacker" doesn't mean much anymore.

The music is what i miss the most, punk/alt rock is completely dead now. It's all been replaced by rap and pop music.

I kinda get why, because rock is probably the most rehashed and overdone genre in all of our history, and you can't really do anything new with it anymore. Still pretty sad tho.

It's basically stealing e-mails, Ddos attacks, or just general trickery now. Back then there was a whole world of systems you could learn, and being able to make free payphone calls would make you 10 friends a day; although you had to use a hacker name to avoid jail.

the hacker culture was huge when I was born (1991) but by the time I was a teen, the telecom and internet systems weren't the playground they used to be.
