A lot of apartment buildings in NYC are nearing a century old and have just constantly been receiving surface level layers of lipstick. Piping breaks, needs to be completely replaced, concrete needs to get hammered out, water needs to get turned off to avoid flooding so land lord has to pay penalties. And every single service is 5x the cost because its NYC and the people providing the service have to pay their landlords 5x too.

You need at least $250k to live comfortably as a single person in NYC. That's not an exaggeration. Anything less than that and you'll be crammed like sardines with a million other roommates, or in a shitty neighborhood, always budgeting for things like food and entertainment, I could go on.

It gets even worse if you have children and you are suicidal enough to raise them in the city. You have to send them to private school unless you want them to be attacked by niggers on a daily basis, that's $40k a year.

Childcare in the city could easily cost you $3k a month, with the very cheapest options being over $2k a month. If you want to send them somewhere good, that'll be $4k a month or more.
