>>510530124Thats great to hear, but again, thats just people taking advantage of living in peace. These things you consider abhorent are not that bad, those cultures you are looking at with envy tend to actually have pretty harsh approaches to these things where you would only see how bad it is if you are living it. I had a friend who was Chinese who told me that when he came to NI it was like a different planet, and he was happy, some of the stuff he told me about how Chinese culture basically treats you like a slave till youre middle aged was harrowing.
>high quality educationWhipped into being a perfect specimen, your childhood is nothing but suffering so that your parents can say they made a success. You have no childhood, you work, you study, but then you get a minumum wage job like everyone else
>all the kids were only drinking water, tea and milkAnd they are envious of you, who got to drink whatever they wanted. Youre dad gave you sweats and treats, their parents give them a belt across the head for not being content with the cracker you were given, while they eat the cupboard full off treats themselves
Obviously Im being a bit hyperbolic and its based on what Ive been told, but the grass always looks greener in different cultures, until you have to actually get into the culture.
Its in your hands, you have to be the change you want to see, if you want people to celebrate the gaelic language for example, learn some of it, learn some of the history of Ireland, there was a lot more going on than just Britian oppressing the country, most people dont evne know that Ireland has its own mythology, Ulster itself has a fairly comprehensive one (ulster cycle, the Fenian cycle is a mix of the 3 other counties), this is the shit Ireland needs to elevate in its culture, rather than just eternal frothing at the mouth at Britian. Dont be one of those people whos only knowledge of Ireland is what Britian did to them, there is far more than that to talk about.
