>>510544852 (OP)The United States Government, from inception at the start of the revolutionary war, onward, NEVER allowed the importation of race slaves to its shores by US persons. This began with the April 6th 1776 Resolution by Congress to prohibit the importation of slaves.
This was followed by the Slave Trade Act of 1794, the act to prevent the importation of certain persons (1803), and the act preventing the importation of slaves (1807) (strengthened by the act of 1820 which classified slave trading as piracy).
South Carolina for a period of about 2 years, operated in contravention of US laws (1803-1805). Most states had already banned importation prior to the revolutionary war.
