I've crashed my car multiple times and even have some serious anxiety while driving as a result, but the only driving dreams I've had have been remarkably peaceful, especially the one where I went over the cliff and had assurance that it was high enough and that I wouldn't survive, it was one of my best dreams ever.

Dreams of being out of control.

You are clearly under too much stress and pressure.
More than likely in a job that is pushing you to a breaking point or a relationship that you've been staying in because you haven't had any other choice.
For there to be change sometimes things have to break. Sometimes those breaks can be ugly and destructive like having too much to drink and running down to the store and get arrested for DUI.
It can be stress that ends up in road rage or your significant other stays out to late one night or your parents telling you they want you out of the house.

Unfortunately it's not. I've observed similar shadows while awake on several occasions. The ones I saw were spherical rather than humanoid but they would appear as tiny specks in my room and something about their presence would wake me up to scan my room for intruders. As soon as I locked onto one it would slowly swell like a balloon until reaching "full size," at which point it would float toward me. The moment one would start to move after growing is when the sense of flight or flight kicked in and I'd immediately get out of bed and flee the room. No paralysis, no second awakening. Also completely different atmosphere from sleep paralysis which I've experienced separately.
The only humanoidish shadow I've encountered was an arm that came up from the tiny gap between bed and wall to grab my wrist. Again, no paralysis, I immediately wrenched my arm out of its grip and sat up already fully awake. Part of the reason I never cared to master lucid dreaming is that the sensations are still "distant" so even conjuring a sex doll is kind of meh; that shadow's grip was something else entirely. I had woken up a few moments before being grabbed and was only looking in the right place to see the arm clearly because I was looking at my own arm as I shifted to slowly sit up.

If you have shadow problems I suggest getting a dagger or sword, there's a specific reason it is standard in a magician's tools. You need something that makes you feel lethal when you hold it to brandish against the darkness and forbid intruders from your home. Any sort of barrier fancier than that is up to you.

It's actually true that you can't have sex in dreams without having done it in real life first. I get these regularly and every time I fall for it, getting excited thinking this is the time but it just ends up being another fake-out.

The scariest dream I ever had was a few months ago. I just ended up at some kind of gathering at someone's house, there was mostly people I knew. Everything was mostly fine, even though I felt like I didn't really belong, but I'm awkward like that anyway. Yeah I bet a lot of it is just random thinking, just in an altered state of consciousness. You know those very weak "dreams" people get just before they wake up? It feels like coming out of a deep daydream, many "real dreams" feel just like that, not really dreams at all. I have had dreams that were so vivid I could talk to people, smell things, and feel things like the ground or holding an object or 100% hear things. Way more real than a day dream. The clarity of what you can see is also much more. I really have no idea about the specifics of it but about 2-3 years ago I did start trying to remember my dreams and then they only became super vivid once I went through an immense period of stress.

Frankly my schizo opinion is that it is spiritual more than anything. I was praying my heart out to God for guidance and some of the dreams were oddly prophetic. Which is fucking crazy but I cannot deny that it happened.
