Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi advocated for the end of visa requirements for Indians visiting Brazil. The request was made during a state meeting this Tuesday (July 8th) in Brasília. Alongside President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Workers' Party), the prime minister argued that the measure will strengthen relations between the countries.
"We would love for relations between Brazil and India to be as colorful as Carnival. [The relations] should be driven by the same enthusiasm we have for football. And also always connect hearts, like Brazilian samba, and all this without the need for a visa. It is in this spirit that we will make efforts to facilitate contact between people from both countries, especially among tourists, students, and businesspeople," Modi emphasized.
